Daniel’s 70 weeks.
24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people
and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of
sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness,
and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. 25 Know
therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to
restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven
weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the
wall, even in troublous times. 26 And after
threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the
people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;
and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war
desolations are determined.
From the decree that was made to start rebuilding, what is
that DATE?
Nehemiah 2:1 says in the 20th year of Artaxerxes, When did Artaxerxes I Kingship start? 465 BC is what the history books state and 20 years
later is 445 BC. So 445 BC is the date of the decree to rebuild, it seems pretty straight forward so far.
62 + 7 weeks of years = 69 X 7 = 483
years of 360 day years minus a extra month every few years, because
that is how Jewish years are counted. So to make it easier, we will
use Solar years of 365.25 days per year.
So we will take the 483 x 360 = 173880 days and divide it by
365.25 solar days = 476 - 1 = 475 Solar years (-1 for no zero year between BC and AD)
Now if we take 445 – 475 = 30 AD, we get the date when Jesus begin His ministry.
There are also 6 more proofs listed below.
V25, from the time of the commandment to restore
until Jesus begins His ministry will be 69 weeks. V26 Sometime after 69 weeks, Jesus will be cut
off, (executed).
Most believe that there is one week of Daniel’s 70th
week left. Yet the scriptures say it
different. Let us take a look.
1. Jesus
came into His ministry at 69 weeks.
2.
69 weeks comes to 30AD Which is the
beginning of Jesus’ ministry. V25 (see 6 reasons below)
3. There
would be only one week left to go.
4. Jesus
preached for 3 ˝ years
5. And
in the middle of Daniel’s 70th week Jesus is cut off.
6. V26
says that after 69 weeks, Jesus is killed.
Which happens 3 ˝ years later in 33AD, middle of the 70th
week.
7. After
this, God leaves the Jews and it becomes the time of the gentiles.
8. From
33AD until today 2024 and on, it is the time of the gentiles.
9. Time
is almost over, it could be tonight that the Lord
comes for His Bride.
10. And at that time the Gentiles age is over
and it is back to Israel for the 144,000 that will come forth from the
preaching of the 2 witnesses of Revelations.
11. Now there is only ˝ week left to the
people of Israel and that is the time of the 2 witnesses
ministry.
Now let’s look at verse 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
12. v27
He (Jesus will confirm the seventieth week with His 3 ˝ year ministry, because
in the middle of the week, Jesus is killed.
Jesus puts an end to sacrifice, by becoming the sacrifice once and for
all. (see simple poetic style of Hebrew parallelism below)
13. So this covenant is speaking of the
Daniel’s 70th week.
14. And within this period, the two
witnesses will preach the last ˝ of the week, 3 ˝ years, 1260 days and that
will complete Daniels 70th week.
1
& 2 69 weeks
comes to 30AD, which is the beginning of Jesus’ ministry v25
So the time unto
the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks, this
is the start of the Lord’s ministry.
6 reasons why we know Jesus’ ministry started in 30AD
1. The
gospels indicate that Jesus was crucified because of the 1st century
high priest name Caiaphas. (Matthew
26:3-4, John 11:49-53)
a. We
know from other sources that he served as high priest from AD 18 to 36, so that
put Jesus’ death within that 18 year period.
2. All
4 gospels agree that Jesus was crucified on the orders of Pontius Pilate
(Matthew 27:24-26, Mark 15:15, Luke 23:24, John 19:15-16)
a. We
know from other sources when he served as governor of Judea – AD 26-36 – now we
have a 10 year period.
3. The
Gospel of Luke tells us when the ministry of John the Baptist began: it was in
the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar (Luke 3:1-2)
a. This
picks out a specific year: AD29
b. Since
all 4 gospels depict the ministry of Christ beginning after that of John the
Baptist had begun (Matthew 3, Mark 1, Luke 3, John 1), this means that we can
take off a few more years.
c. Death
of Christ had to be between AD 29-36, a seven year
period.
4. All
four gospels agree that Jesus was crucified on a Friday. (Matthew 27:62, Mark 15:42,
Luke 23:54, John 19:42).
a. We
know that it was a Friday, because it is referred to as “the day of
preparation” – the day on which the Jews did all they needed to do for the
Sabbath.
b. It
is the preparation day for food to be prepared for that day and the Sabbath.
c. This
eliminates 6 of the days of the week, but quite a few Fridays between AD 29 and
36
5. The
gospels also agree that Jesus was crucified on conjunction with annual feast of
Passover (Matthew 26:2, Mark 14:1, Luke 22:1, John 18:39).
a. In
John 18:28-29a, John indicates that they led Jesus from the house of Caiaphas
to the Pilate’s palace. It was early and they themselves did not enter the
palace, so that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Passover
meal. So Pilate went out to them.
b. This
would suggest that the Passover would have begun on sundown Friday.
c. This
narrows the list down to two dates.
Friday, April 7 AD 30 and Friday, April 3, AD 33,
6. Which
date was it.
a. The
traditional date is that of AD 33, but there are quite a number of people today
saying it is the AD 30 date.
b. The
Gospel of John records 3 different Passovers during the ministry of Jesus.
i.
Passover 1: recorded in John 2:13, near
the beginning of Jesus’ ministry
ii.
Passover 2: recorded in John 6:4, in the
middle of Jesus’ ministry.
iii.
Passover 3: recorded in John 11:55, at
the end of Jesus’ ministry.
c. With
Jesus ministry being around 3 ˝ years, that would mean the AD 30 is OUT. There is not enough time from the 15th
year of Tiberius Caesar AD 29 to the AD 30 date.
d. As
a result, the date of Jesus’ death is Friday, April 3, AD 33
e. And
this would make AD 30 the year in which His ministry STARTED and the ending of
the 69th week of Daniel’s 70 weeks.
3
& 4 Only one week left, the 70th week, and Jesus
preached 3 ˝ years or ˝ of that week. For He was crucified in
AD 33.
Many teach that the 70 weeks have to run without a
break, or space of time. But Daniel said that after the 70 weeks there would be
an end to sin, does anyone really believe there is no sin today. I believe that in the middle of the 70th
week, Jesus was crucified and then the Jews were set aside by God for a space
of time, so that He could get a Bride for His Namesake. And then after that space of time is over, He
will return for His 144,000 in the last half of the 70th week, with
the two witnesses of Revelation 11.
5
& 6 v26 says that after 69 weeks, Jesus is
crucified. And 3 ˝ years later is after
69 weeks and into the 70th week.
8
& 9 v27, He (Jesus will confirm the seventieth week
with His 3 ˝ year ministry and in the middle of the week Jesus is
crucified. So that puts an end to
sacrifice, for He became the sacrifice once and for all.
1. It
didn’t stop the Jew for sacrificing in the temple, but it did become
meaningless.
2. When
we take into account the simple poetic style of Hebrew parallelism in the
verses, we see that v27 is speaking with more detail of v26.
3. It is taught by most that v27 speaks of the antichrist confirming a week, but it is Jesus Christ.
Simple Poetic Style of Hebrew Written
A. Messiah
Prince to come
a. v25a,
So you are to know and discern that from the issuing
of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince.
b. v25a,
There will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks.
B. The city to be rebuilt
1.v25b,
the street shall be built again, and the wall,
2.v25b
even in troublous times.
A’.
Messiah to be cut off
2 v26a, Then after
sixty two weeks
1 v26a,
the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing.
B’ Desolater prince to
destroy the city
1 v26b,
the people of the prince, (satan),
who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary.
2 v26b,
And its end will come with a flood: even to the end
there will be war: desolations are determined.
A” Messiah to terminate sacrifices.
1 v27a,
He,(Jesus), shall confirm the covenant with many for one week
2 v27a,
and in the midst of the week he, (Jesus), shall cause the sacrifice and the
oblation to cease
B” The desolater prince, (satan), to be destroyed
2v27b the overspreading of abominations he, (satan) shall make it desolate
1v27b
even until the consummation,
and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
If you study the above, you will see how the simple
poetic style used, shows that v27 isn’t talking about a new final week, but is
talking about v26, the after 69 weeks, it is talking
about the 70th week. Jesus
confirmed the 70th week, by fulfilling the first 3 ˝ years and the last 3 ˝
years of that 70th week will be preached by the two witnesses of
Revelation 11 to the Jews.
There has been a space of time after the ministry of
Jesus for the Bride to be chosen. And
that space of time, about 2000 years is about to end. Then God will be done with the gentiles and
will go back to the Jews to seal His 144,000.
